Connection

I was reminded of something very important today…the power of connecting with others through authenticity and passions. This picture was taken a few weeks ago when I decided to see some of my favorite and inspiring authors and leaders. During this day, I was surrounded by passionate people. I had the opportunity to experience authenticity in action through each of the speakers. It was truly amazing and moving. I felt so much energy and so connected to myself, others in the audience, the speakers, and all of the energy around me.

Today, I had another opportunity to experience those similar feelings. There were not hundreds of people surrounding me. There were no awe inspiring speakers today. It was simply some text messages between myself and another person. Although the conversation began through business, it turned into more (I think it’s because we treated each other as human beings before business associates). We connected through our passion of wanting to help others. We connected on our belief that the universe offers us all people and things that need to be in our lives at that moment. Those texts started my day on fire. I watched as it rippled out into all of my interactions throughout the day. Looking at others in the grocery store. Greeting them with a smile, hello, and have a great day (sometimes I forget how impactful this is for me and maybe even to others…to stop and just smile). Taking the time to contact all of my siblings just because. Taking the long way home when it was just me and my daughter so we could talk just a little bit longer.

Remember…take time to notice the ‘little’ daily experiences. Yes, we have amazing, big moments that are life changing. Through my life, I have noticed that the daily, ‘small’ moments are the life changing ones. Slow down and take the time to notice, and feel, the connection all around us. Smile at others. Smile with others. Take time to ask how others are doing-actually take the time…not just hoping for a quick “fine” and moving on…people know when you are not being authentic. Take the time to connect with anyone, everyone, and everything. You never know what impact that moment will have on you, and more than likely, even the other person. Humans, compassion, and kindness first, and always.
